A prominent non-profit educational institution and museum dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich history of Evanston, Illinois. Founded in 1898, the center is housed inside the magnificent Charles Gates Dawes House, a 26-room chateau-style lakeside mansion that is designated as a National Historic Landmark. The home beautifully exhibits the intact, original furnishings and artwork belonging to Charles Gates Dawes—the former U.S. Vice President, World War I general, and Nobel Peace Prize recipient.
